This was one of the hardest races he has ever done yet his feet felt better than they ever had after any other mountain bike race.

Your mountain bike shoes make a huge difference if you are riding more than 10 miles. Foot comfort is important to relieve the pressure from the legs as peddling gets more intense. Your cycling shoes are as important as the helmet you are wearing. They not only protect the feet from injury and discomfort but make the difference in a long endurance race. A foot injury can sideline a cyclist from riding for a whole biking season.

Even if you are not a pro mountain biker or cyclist you do not want to be limping around simply because you skimped on your foot protection. If you are spending thousands on your mountain bike and hundreds traveling all over the country to ride or race then why would you not spend a couple of hundred of dollars on proper mountain biking shoes?

Your feet need to preform more than just mountain biking. It makes no sense to skimp on your cycling shoes to save a couple of bucks when your feet need to do more than just ride a bike.

Personally I think mountain bike racing is a crazy sport and I do not understand what the big attraction is but my kids love doing it. They can hardly walk for a couple of days after a major race. Not because of their mountain bike shoes but because their butt is so sore that they can hardly sit or walk. I would rather do cliff diving than do mountain bike racing. But that is just me.
